The link below is an excellent start in understanding and dealing with panic attacks. They also have a list of other organisations and websites that can help. Good luck with it and I hope it helps you.

Sophie you need to go and see someone. Take Ally_Cat's advice and contact MIND who will put you in touch with specialists.
I had a very stressful time at work a few years ago, and from nowhere I started suffering from anxiety attacks. I didn't think until that point that they really existed. But they came and seemed very real and frightening.
Now, after a little help, I can't imagine ever having them again or letting myself get into a position where they could re-occur.
You can't sort it out on your own, but believe me, it is relatively easy to deal with your state of mind.

for a Mind office in your area and speak to someone by phone.
Hope it all goes well, and remember, it's just a temporary thing.
Hi. Sophie21, I think we are the same! I have just agreed with your throught on religion (Death). My God! (I can blasphime now!)I suffer the same!! Do you feel sick, hot, heart beats faster?! Feel that you cannot go anywhere apart from your own house due to being in alien areas or the feeling of "no escape"? I know what you mean and how you feel. If you have taken the below advice, please tell me if it has worked as I would like to get help and guidance too. Thanks.
I have had very severe panic attacks, they can make you feel like you're losing it. stay away from caffine by all means, which tends to bring them on or make them worse (alcohol too can do this) try to get enough sleep, and eat right (a multi-vitamin helps) and if all else fails, ask your doctor about xanax. Therapy is good for figuring out why you have the panic attacks, but something like xanax will ease you out of the really bad ones that interfere with your life. They are not a permante fix though, and can be addicting,so use only as directed!!! I use them only for those times when I really need it.try excersicing too, that can help.
