I changed the altenator today on my friends car.All went ok.But ! he wanted to renew the drive belt a good Idea! i could not see any way of getting the belt out.The only way I could see was to take the engine mount off.this was too big a job to do in the limited time we had.Am I stupid or is their an easy way to change the belt.ASTRA 1.4 M reg power steering.I looked in Hanes manual didn't see any mention of taking engine mount off.

If its the same as a Corsa you have to put a spline key into the tensioner pulley and turn it against its spring and then slip the belt off.
If i remeber correct there is a hole in the pulley where you can insert a bolt temporarily to hold the pulley slack while you change it
Yes you have to take off the engine mount .its only 2 bolts
