We live on a hillside and recently found reptile shedding inside our house by the sliding door. We always keep the doors closed. They open long enough to enter and exit. We do see a lot of small lizards outside, but are unsure what kind of reptile shedding we found. How can we find whatever it is if it's inside our home. We think it could also be a garter snake. Although we have never seen any around our home. I'm sure they're around here. Thanks

This is a UK site and not very many experts on foreign snakes here I don't suppose, but you never know!!
Why don't you put a pic of the shedding on the web (try imageshack.us or something) and put a link on to here, then you're more likely to get someone who knows what it is.
speak to your local pest control, in case it is anything dangerous. sure it will be fine though.
Where are you, and how big was the shed? I wouldn't worry unless you know there are poisonous sankes in your area. In the western US, I would be concerned, as 90% of the snakes I have seen in the wild have been rattle snakes. As for finding a snake in your house,if it does not want to be found, you will not find it. It could be anywhere. Just try to be very aware of your surroundings, and don't put you hands anywhere (under the couch or in the seat cushions) without looking first. I wouldn't worry too much though. It's probably not in your house any more.
snakes tend to find somewhere warm and kinda secure before shedding their skin as theyr in quite a vulnerable state so i doubt that it is around any more, keep the skin, arent they amazing?!
