will the moon ever colide with earth? not an astoroid hitting it and knocking it into us. will it ever get pulled into us if our gravity getts too strong
The Moon is slowly moving away from Earth so there won't be a collision. The angular diameter of the Moon is diminishing with time so a total eclipse of the Sun will be an impossibility in the future.
our gravity is not going to get too strong so dont worry. the only way we increase our gravity is by meteors and asteroids and although im sure the weight is considerable, it won't be enough to make any significant change before we get engilfed by sol
I believe the figure is about 40mm per year at the last count.
Also, the same portion of the moon faces the earth at all times due to gravity.
The same will happen to the earth eventually. The length of day is gradually getting shorter. At present is it 23h57m but it will be millions of years before we end up with no day.
