There was a song released in 1970 by Eli Bonaparte called "Never an everyday thing" which I found on the "North Of Watford, Volume 2" CD. The song was previously recorded by Wayne Fontana and later by Guys N Dolls. The question is "Who was Eli Bonaprte ?" I have never seen or heard anything of him apart from this record. I understand he appeared on Top OfThe Pops in September 1970 but that has been wiped and the film reused so I doubt that will ever get another broadcasting (DOH !)

I think it was Peter (not *********' Pete) Shelley who did "Love Me Love My Dog" in the 70s and wrote Alvin Stardust'* ****. Might be wrong, but sure I've heard that somewhere.

Those aterisks aren't in place of a swear word, but rather the name of a Mancunian band from the 70s who did songs like "What Do I Get?", "Ever Fallen In Love" etc!!!

Pete Shelley co-wrote the song with Ben Findon, so that is quite possible. Cheers.

Could be ! Pete Shelley produced Alvins hits, so it could have been him. It doesnt really sound like Bernard Jewry (aka Alvin Stardust / Shane Fenton). Have you seen that anywhere ?

"Hits" - what's with this editor? I Naively thought a real person actually read the replies and censored them!

Is it on a HITS album or mentioned in the credits ? I tried an Alvin website yesterday, but couldnt find anything about it.
