Portable immersion heater for teamaking

Years ago you could purchase a heating element that you would place in a cup and boil the water to make tea/coffee. Nowadays it seems that travelling kettles have taken it's place, the beauty of the heating element was that it didn't take up much space. Can anyone tell me if they can still be bought, and if so where?
I know it is possible to buy them with a car cigarette lighter adaptor, but I want one that will plug into the main supply
