Hiya missrandom,
8mths a go i would have totaly agreed with you because i was havin to start 1 in health and socialcare but now i have completed my nvq and it feels so good to have got that qualification behind me even though like you say we do it every day in our job, its one less thing i have to do in later years and im now lookin in to the next level.
What nvq have you got to do?
hopefully i feel the same way in about a year. i am doing level 3 in chilcdare and development. i know what you mean, about lookin into the next level, i run away with myself sometimes and start moving on to the next thing before i have finished the first thing i was doing!!
It's always worth doing NVQs if you get the opportunity, even if you don't think you'll ever need it there's no harm in having an extra qualification!
At the hospital I work at, we had to reject a brilliant applicant for a nursing auxiliary position because she didn't have NVQ level 2, even though she had a nursing degree, because it's the hospital's policy that NAs have to have an NVQ qualification! (Don't you just love bureaucracy?!)
