i would like to know if anyone can tell me which fish is happy to live in a bowl? i would say the size of the bowl about 30cm diameter... not with filter or anything (but will obviously keep it clean) thanks
I would go for a small shoal....maybe 6-8, of white cloud mountain minnows.
These are a small, peaceful sub tropical fish that will be more than happy at room temperature. They come from small streams in the white cloud mountains in China and some people have kept them in ponds outside all year round quite happily.
Put some plants in with them and they might even breed !!!
Ah, thanks for all the answers... I am not looking to put goldfish in a bowl as I have read all over that they are not happy and need big space... so i will have a look and see where i can buy some minnows, apparently betta fish is also ok to live in tanks?
Hmmmm, depends, re Betta front. You shouldn't put male Bettas together in a tank and they shouldn't be with other 'fancy' tailed fish and they see those as male and will attack them.
However, if your bowl is sizable, there's no reason why you can't put a male Betta on it's own in there, they don't need filters. Worth looking into as I have Betta's myself and they are truly stunning.
