Thanks for previous answers. Just googled the mixer tap I have [Tapmate Narran] to find some kind of instructions for changing the washer and it came up with this beauty...`'Advanced washer-less valve system gives maintenance free life". So my question now is, if I don't have a washer, what else could be causing my hot tap stop working [hot water running regardless of whether on or off]. Thanks in advance!

This type of tap probably uses ceramic disc(s) that have holes that are aligned for on and mis-aligned for off. It is possible that they have become mis-aligned on the turning mechanism or else a bit of grit has got in and is forcing the discs apart. You'd need to take the mechanism apart to find out - depends on how 'handy' you are. Cheers, Andy
