The reason I asked is because a kid's mother ( I teach english to children) told me they aren't check-outs in America and Australia but cash somethings. I just wanted to see if there was a difference.
Getting bags packed is a plus or not; quite honestly I prefer putting my shopping into my trolley and sorting it in the car boot. (No bags in my supermarket)
Thank again for all your help.
the cash register or till is what you put the money in, but it sometimes gets used more generally to mean the check-out. But 'checkout' is used in the USA and Australia.
