I have an Epson 1240 scanner, how do I scan a document, put it on my pc so that I can write onto it and print off the result

I put a Document in the scanner, Click on Epson Smart Panel and Select Copy, Size of Paper, Colour or Black & White , How many Copies and Scan The Scanner and the printer do the rest.
