Our neighbor has had a fastball and has to go away this weekend and has asked us to look after their 9 week old puppy. Apart from being a baptism of fire with my 40kg mutt is there an issue with jabs as the puppy hasn't completed its yet?
If I remember rightly there isn't as my dog is up to date but i'd like to be sure.

So long as your dog is up to date with jabs then the puppy should be ok.
Good Luck.
I was worried about this when I got my kitten as I already had an older cat - the vet said it was fine as long as the older cat was up to date - am sure it is the same with dogs! Have a nice weekend!!
Can't understand the replies - surely it is the pup that is at risk, and even if the older dog is up to date with its jabs, it can carry infections and pass them on, just because it is jabbed doesn't mean the puppy won't catch something from it.

Having said that, most pups get some immunity from their mothers, and I have always brought pups straight into my house with my older dogs. I also consider lack of socialisation as more of a threat to a puppy than the possibility of catching something, so my pups go out and meet lots of people and animals from a very early age.
If I went out today and got another puppy as indeed I did a year ago it would be the same situation, the fact that the puppy belongs to someone else is neither here nor there.
