Shopping in Manchester?

We are from Northern Ireland and will be in Manchester for a day in June. We are accompanying a young lady who will be on a training course for the day.
We just wondering could anyone recommend any good shopping areas we could visit whilst she is busy.

Manchster City Centre is a fantastic place for shopping and there is also the Trafford Centre, about 5 miles away. You can get a bus there from the City Centre.
