Unless of course you're downloading 700MB movies every day of the week but I didn't do that until at least my 5th time! haha
If you want to reassure yourself, double click on "My Computer" on your Desktop. This will show you which hard drive(s) and CD drives etc you have. Right click on your hard drive (C: or C Drive) and choose Properties and it will tell you how much space you have left. Compare this to the size of the files you're downloading.
The above answers are correct, the floppy drive is essentially a redundant storage device. It holds a relativly miniscule amount of data. Many new computers don't even come with floppies these days.
Just download to your hearts content. If your hard drive is getting too full, then learn how to delete stuff to free up more space, or buy an external hard-drive. You can now buy a 160 Gigabyte drive which plugs into a USB socket for 94. per Mb, that works out cheaper than buying floppies. i.e it will store the same amount of information as over 11,000 floppy disks!
You refer to "using all my computer's memory" .. I believe you mean Hard drive disk space. You can get a larger hard drive quite cheaply and upgrade (depending on how old your pc is). I had an old pentium 233MHz MMx with a 2.1GHz hard drive (master), and fitted a second hard drive (slave) which was 8.4GHz.
A cd rewriter is quite cheap, so you can burn things onto that. Floppy disks don't hold much at all, so hardly worth the effort and expence.
