Anyone suffer with 'Urticaria' ?
4 Answers
I used to have this condition that started when I was 13, nearing 40 now and I seem to have finally grown out of it, but I always used to get it really bad, my face, lips, eyelids would swell so much they closed ! It also used to affect my throat where I felt I had permanent tonsilitis, but it was in fact mild anaphalactic shock! My body would be covered in red marks and swellings too, really hot and itchy, it was truly miserable, but I am finally over it ! Sometimes it would be caused by the hot weather, pressure, cold, taking too many aspirin over a period of time (i.e. when I had a cold/flu). Anyone else suffering from this ?

A temporary respite after giving birth. The first time I got them, I thought my body was on fire but I was in hospital anyway so they gave me something to make them go away.
I can totally avoid mine and I have never found anything new to cause them.

I have Dermographism which is a type of urticaria, its a strange one though as nothing is known of its origin or what causes it. Something just has to touch my skin lightly and the skin turns to raised welts, i can draw pictures on my skin lol it is so itchy its unbearable. i take my tablets all the time but if im sleeping and the tablets wear off i am woken by the adrelalin that starts to pump again to counteract the reaction!!
It is so hateful. i have to take special antihistamines everyday, its the only thing that makes it go away because it is like an allergic reaction, only not!! as histamine kicks in to stop you going into anaphalectic shock.
I got it out of the blue, i couldnt find very much about it though thankfully my doc knew what is was, that was three years ago and nobody knows how long it will last.
And more people are getting it....
