I am due to retire in a months time and because i had 14 years at home looking after my children i cannot claim full pensions as i do not have enough qualifying years. I have recently heard about home responsibility protection where you can protect your years while looking after children. Does anyone know if this can be back dated to the years i was off until 1987 or is this just for recent years

You can claim from 1978 -

You may not need to - you may have been awarded it automatically. Get a pension estimate to check.
