My nan used to tell me that thunder was angels banging dustbin lids, and the lightning was them switching their lights on and off :o)
I have passed this knowledge on to my kids, and even though the eldest ones know the real reason for it none of my kids have been scared by thunder storms. We make a point of watching them.
You lucky thing Carakeel - sounds wonderful. I'd love to watch a thunderstorm over the sea too, as long as it's not too close to me I'm okay! BTW - hope you're feeling much better now. -x-
Pippa - it's amazing, even tho' I love the sound of thunder, but am terrified of lightening - I used tell our daughters not to be afraid of storms for the same reasons your Nan gave you!
I like to hear the rumble of thunder and I don't mind sheet lightening, not over fussed on fork lightening though. I always get a "Thunder" headache before and during but everything smells fresh and sharp after. Its poured down here in Cardiff today as well.
