TARDIS/Police public call box...
7 Answers
Does anyone know what it says on the notice on the TARDIS? It says something along the lines of "POLICE TELEPHONE, FREE FOR USE OF PUBLIC, ADVICE & ASSISTANCE, something..., IMMEDIATELY"
Then under that, I think it says "OFFICER & CAPS RESPOND TO ALL CALLS, PULL TO OPEN" Does anyone know what it says exactly??

When the original Dr Who aired in 1963, policec boxes were already becoming a rarity on Britain's streets, but in theory, the camoflage would enable the Tardis to sit on any street and not appear out of the ordinary.
Of course, the cloaking circuit that allowed the Tradis to assume any suitabel exterior appearence and make it blend in like a tiome-travelling chameleon, was in fact broken, hence the fact that it has reminaed as a police box from that day to this.
Similarly, the original Doctor was unable to pilot the Tardis with any accuracy, so he never knw where, or indeed when it would materialise.

At the moment ( the wording has changed slightly over the years ) the sign reads...
POLICE TELEPHONE
FREE
FOR USE OF
PUBLIC
ADVICE & ASSISTANCE
OBTAINABLE IMMEDIATELY
OFFICER & CARS
RESPOND TO ALL CALLS
PULL TO OPEN.
It used to say
OFFICERS AND CARS
RESPOND TO
URGENT CALLS
The "Pull to Open" relates to the sign itself, which has a telephone behind it.

I've been a fan since the late 1960's Andy, when I was 6 years old.
Jay70, just because Russell T Davies and a number of the Who production team are leaving at the end of series IV, doesn't mean the Beeb will end the series.
I'm sure BBC Wales will want to continue with an award winning show, and the viewing figures are consistantly high for the time of year.
