Java problem

I keep getting the following error message when trying to access some games.

Java (TM) Plug In Fatal Error
---------------------------------------
Several Java virtual machines
running in the same process
caused an error.
----------------------------------------

This started happening for no apparent reason . I have tried various suggestions to sort it , but no luck.
Even after uninstalling Java and reinstalling it the problem still persists.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
