Buying a private plate?

If my car has the new style number plate i.e. KV04 WHS can i purchase a private plate with a prefix i.e. T10 DJB and display it legally? Thank you in advance.

Yes no problem. For example if your reg were to F442 JHR you could assign M2 GER to the vehcile as it would make it appear younger than it is.

thats should read could not!
As long as the plate is older this should not pose a problem. You must adhere to the law regarding spacing of letters etc.
You still have to re register the car with DVLA.
They have got special forms regarding cherished number plates.

always makes me laugh when someone says ' younger' for a car as apposed to newer. no offense intended madmondeo.
Yes, you can. That's perfectly fine.
You will need to pay DVLA fees & fill in a form (depending on whether T10 DJB is on another car or retention certificate).

If you want someone to do it all for you, www.theplatemarket.com do a transfer service. You don't have to buy a registration number through them.
