Could I be psychic?

I was just thinking about a girl I used to work with, around three years ago, and about twenty minutes later she walks past! Am I psychic?

I've only seen her a few times since she left work. It's actually happened to me twice before with other people I hadn't seen in ages. I've been thinking about them and they appear a while later. I find it really spooky.

Synchronicity is the name often given to this sort of thing. That is, the thought of someone and the actual appearance of that person, for example, coincide in time. The key word there is 'coincide'...it is pure coincidence when such a thing happens and not evidence of psychic ability.

Quite often I am thinking about someone I havent been in touch with for a while, the phopne rings and it is them. Spooky !!

I think its more than coincidence. i believe there is a "sixth sence". too many things are put down to coincidence too often.

its the old "gut feeling" thing. how many times has any of us had a bad gut feeling and reacted to it ??

When I was about 13 I had an argument with my best friend. Her mum refused to let her see me any more and I didn't see her for 2 years. One day I was cycling to work at my Saturday job and about half way there I started thinking about her - the thoughts got stronger and stronger. Then, when I arrived at work she was standing outside waiting for me - she wanted to make friends again and was very worried I would'nt want to see her.
I've also had a 'message' from my sister when she was very upset and had no money to phone me (I was living abroad), I leapt out of the bath to phone her - she was in tears and really wanted to talk to me.
I think it's a sixth sense of some kind so yes, maybe you are psychic!

My guess is you saw this girl in the perimiter of your eyesight which caused you to think about her without realising that you had seen her.

I'm a firm believer in a sixth sense, its got me out of trouble many times by sensing danger and I never ignore it. One time I did and I knew I shouldn't have turned up this road, I slide off the wet road into a tree.

I can usually tell who is on the phone before I answer and I often think about someone just before they turn up. I can tell what someone is going to say before they open their mouth. When fixing faults I often find it in my head before doing anything and go straight to it, often astounding myself. This might be just an acute awareness of my surroundings but I think it's more than that.

I have very similar experiences, even remembering films from years ago, then they are suddenly on Tv, so I think their is something in this. But, hey Stanleyman you're obviously very experienced at your job. The writer Shon would consider your "intuition" to have come about because when you do a job, afterwards (even if briefly) you reflect on the process and outcome i.e your experience. This is reflection "on action", this then leads you to act in either the same or a different way because of your experience when in the same situation, and again you reflect on this. Eventually you have such a repertoire of experiences that you have learnt from, that you are then able to "reflect in action" like act instantaneously, which to you seems like intuition, but is actually You as an expert, professional doer of what you do because you think and learn. Well done!

Just a theory: There is a great deal of 'thought' going on in our subcounscious mind at any given moment. Perhaps a connection to this subconscious activity is sparked by related perceptual events in such a way that we forget about any other 'thoughts' we might have been 'thinking' at the time. Perhaps experiences described in this thread are simply manifestations of the amazing way the mind works. Don't mind me; I'm just seeking explanations for mysterious phenomenon in the wee hours of the night. Who knows, maybe a lucky guess?

Animals have similar and probably more acute senses. My wife used to return home from work at all different times but our dog would get up and go to the door a full five minutes before she arrived. I'd put the kettle on ready for when she got in. How did the dog know that?

We are all psychic, but for the majority the gift or the belief has been long knocked out of them. Educated out is another way of looking at it. Many professional psychics have grown up in a psychic friendly environment.
