On our hols next month we want to stop on the way to the vendee. Are there any hotels which have family rooms (hotel chains maybe) that are a good price, around the Rouen area? Merci.

Novotel have a local hotel. A room accommodating up to 4 people costs 89 (60.52) per night:

Thanks for your reply.
I've very limited experience of driving abroad - I usually either fly or take the train - so I'm not the best person to ask about the availability of Formule 1 rooms. I guess that you might get accommodation by simply turning up on the day but it would depend upon such things as whether there was a major sporting event on in Rouen.
However, even if one hotel was full, they've got a centralised booking system, so they might well be able to direct you to an alternative Formule 1 hotel along your route. (There are loads of Formule 1 hotels across France and, indeed across large areas of Europe. There are even a few in the UK).

Formule 1 usualy allow you to book by telephone (check the number for each hotel online) and if you turn up before 1800 on the day you will get your room - they take no payment for a guarantee that expires after 1800. To ensure a room after that time they take your credit card details and reserve the right to charge the room rate if you fail to turn up. If you arrive before 2200 (usually that sort of time) you can arrange to pay in cash if you wish rather than have the charge taken off your card. Reception is usually open from something like 1700 to 2200. They usually also offer continental breakfast (see site for details) between something like 0630-0930, during which time you will be able to speak to the proprietors. Note that these hotels are structured in a very modern/automated fashion. To check in after 2200 you use an automated system on the wall near the entrance (your credit card and reservation number if you have one are needed). The bathrooms are not en-suite but they are cleaned automatically after each use (and a red light will be on with access denied during cleaning). I/we have used this chain and find it entirely satisfactory and a very clever low cost one.
We've used formula 1 several times when crossing France without any problems but found it best to book in advance whenever possible as it gets harrowing to have to keep moving on and on when all you want is a rest and a glass of wine.Remember too that formula 1 hotels do not have en-suite facilities but there are plenty of bathrooms very close to all rooms and they are cleaned automatically to a very high standard after each use
