Accident in a car park
6 Answers
I had just parked in a car park and was opening my door, when a car drove through a parking space behind me and into the one next to me making impact with my door. The impact was with the front of the car causing a crack to the headlight but my door was pushed forwards and wouldnt close. The woman took full responsibllity at the time and offered to pay for all repairs. Everything was caught on CCTV. However now her husband has got involved stating its my fault and will not provide the car registration number or address (I now have address). Where do i stand as even though i opened my door the space next to me was empty and she drove through the parking space behind me and into the one next to me. Is there any rule on entering parking spaces?

You could argue that you were monitoring the car park entry area and decided it was safe to open the door in accordance with the rules.
The fact that the other car drove on through one car parking space into another one could constitute a violation on her part?
Either way let the insurance handle it. make some notes and make sure you structure them well and send them into your insurance company when they ask you for details of the accident.
