De-gaussing?

My computer monitor has the left & right edges a different faded colour. I've heard you can "de-gausse"??? it?

If that's the right term, or if I'm on the right track, can someone tell me how to do this please?

One of the buttons on your monitor should be a degausse button.

You may need to bring up the monitor control panel to find it.

Have a look in the booklet that came with the monitor.
