Does anyone know why the Americans use an illogical date format? They would write 23 Febuary 2002 as 02/23/2002, whereas we in the UK would write 23/02/2002, starting with the smallest measurement and graduating to the largest. And as postscript, does Europe do it the same way as the UK?
Ah yes, the age old question. I asked an American friend of mine the same question and his answer was simple. Americans would say February 23[rd] so they would write it 2/23/2002. As far as I know this is the only reason. As for Europe, I'm pretty sure they write the date the same way as us (the British).
A Swedish friend told me they usually put the year first - so 2002/23/02, but I don't know if that's just for business purposes or correspondence as well.
