is it just me being an over protective parent or is it absoloutly crazey to leave 2 2year olds and a 3 year old home alone in a foreign country.I feel really sorry for madeleines parents don't get me wrong but i can't help but think they have been foolish.Yet they still don't seem to they have.Infact they seem to be angry at us for thinking such things. And i don't understand why who ever took this child would have left 2 behind?

The parents werent downstairs when this poor little girl was taken, they were in a resteraunt (and from the news reports, it was around a corner, albeit a small distance), i think this is madness, and although yes we all take risks, i would never take a risk like that. However blame and criticism will not bring the poor baby back and the parents are paying the highest price for their neglect, and iam sure ask themselves everyday why they left her alone.
I think everyone wants madeleine back home with her parents.I dread to think where or what she is doing, and what she has had to endure.I actually believe she is still alive somewhere.I just hope where ever she is that she is being cared for.Every time i watch the tv i expect a newsflash saying she has been found but unfortunatley this hasn't happened yet.
If you take all possible steps to protect your children and then somethimg awful happens..then you cannot be blamed.
As an example...you put your
car in the garage at home, lock it up and then lock the garage door. The car is alarmed and so is the garage. In the night the garage is broken into and the car is stolen. You make a claim to your insurance and you get paid out because you took all reasonable precautions to ensure that your car was not an easy target for theives.
On the other hand you take your car to the local supermarket, park it and walk away leaving the keys in the ignition, the engine running and the doors unlocked. You return to find the car has gone. Now....are you really going to be shocked at this event and would the insurance company listen to your excuses when you try to make a claim? Saying that it's not your fault because how were you to know that some thief was going to come along and take your car,is plain stupid.
This was not a car in the Macanns case...it was thier children

This was not a car in the Macanns case...it was their children for goodness sake and we should'nt forget that as some people would wish us to do...yes they are paying the price for their "mistake" but their little girl is paying a far higher one...one which she would'nt have been paying had her parents been less selfish and stayed with the children or taken with them. I rest my case.

thats exactly how i feel.I don't get why people get angry at people for commenting. We are all entitled to our opinion and just because some people can't face facts we all are supposed to keep quiet. The fact is the truth hurts. In the begining the parents protested they had done nothing wrong.Today in The Sun Mrs McCann tells us how she is riddled with guilt.Maybe she has realised finally that they WERE wrong.I am just annoyed that they didn't realise that in the first place!
Jumping in a bit late here, but it is no point judging the parents now. They have made a mistake, but they seem like good parents. The child is lovely and looks well cared for in the photographs. Its not like they abused her. Also, a child can drown in a bathtub if left unattended for a few minutes. Or a child can be run over by a reversing car if he/she is in her own front yard. There are so many things that can happen to a child. Just because you have been lucky that doesn't mean you have to get on your high horse.
your right those accidents can happen, and are dreadful, but our point is you take the best precautions and hope for the best. madelines parenrts, i believe, didnt take the best precautions and in fact were rather foolish to say the least. otherwise yes they do seem like good, decent loving caring parents, who are obviously completely devastated by what happened, it was extremley unlucky. what a lot of people, particularly older people, dont understand is long gone are the days when what bad luck it would be to "meet" a paedophile, there are organised gangs on the look out for anyone who leaves their children vulnerable and they jump in!! obvioulsy not in all cases, they still manipulate children and parents and get into family in other ways. you just cant take risks like that
Well Dark Angel...let me put it to you in another way,as you seem not to be getting the point.
The Macanns take your child on holiday with them and instead of this happening to Madeleine..it was your child who was taken that night.
How charitable and forgiving would you be now.Would you be excusing them as you are now.Would you still be calling what they did a "mistake"?
I really do doubt it don't you?Come on now....be honest.

I feel for the parents but abduction isnt the only risk to young kids - what if one had fallen out of bed those floors in apartments are normally hard and tiled and a head split open - the electrics are not that safe quite often - also they could have woken up and choked on something. how about the possibility that maddy woke up and let herself out looking for them as they couldnt see the door from the restaurant - if they did this in uk they would have been prosecuted for leaving them home alone
