Pub Quiz Etiquette
3 Answers
Im moving to a new place soon and there is a pub quiz on which id like to go to as its fund and it would be nice to get to know people. Its in a nice bit of a city centre, not a village or anything.
Am I going to look a complete plonker/tart/desperado going on my own? How do I look nonchalant? How do I get on a team? Am I likely to have to play on my own?

Some of them we never see again, but one or two have ended up joining our team and now come along if not every week then every couple of weeks! I'd say get a quiz sheet and sit next to a friendly looking team. Hopefully they'll take pity on you and either help you out or ask you to join them. Sit in the same seat again the week after and see if they are still as friendly! Good luck.
why not put an ad in your local paper or somewhere?
there may be other people like you who are new and desperate to make friends in the area and this would be a safe and easy way to meet people, or they may just be too shy to just turn up
be sure to make it clear that you want people to join for fun and numbers rather than wanting a load of brainboxes, though!
you couls alos look on your local gumtree.com ( or co.uk) for local groups and even pub quiz groups.
there is one by me that just goes from pub to pub on quiz nights
