This might be a daft question to a wireless expert! I have just bought a wireless laptop but only have dial-up isp. If I buy a wireless router will I be able to use the internet without joining a broadband isp? I have absolutely no knowledge of wireless or how it works.

No - you do need broadband for wireless connection.

That's what I thought until I googled. I have found this:

I know nothing about the WiFlyer apart from what I have read on that site, so please investigate it thoroughly.

Thanks for the info Ethel. Have looked at the information and it sounds promising. Gives me an idea of what to look for.
Hello seelie :-) Are you on a dial-up ? You can get a router designed with the wires and connections you need to give you Wifi . Expect to pay anything between 50 and 100 for a decent one . My friend has dial-up and bought a router and now has Wifi with good reception.

Hi bigmamma - that's good to know. I think I've got a lot to learn about wireless and technology, but now I know a little more than I did this morning - progress. Thanks.
