Help with Indesit oven!

Hello, we "inherited" an Indesit FM1 oven cooker when we moved into our house, but we don't have an instruction manual and the button icons had already worn off. It has recently started switching itself off completely during cooking. The timer display and everything goes off. When the display comes back on (which can take a couple of hours) it flashes at 0:00 AUTO. You can't cook when it's flashing. Pressing another button returns it to the right time with AUTO not showing and a little cooking pot symbol displayed. However, when you try and cook again it lasts a short while before completely switching off again.

I have tried playing with the buttons to remove the cooking pot symbol but can't seem to get rid of it. It's seemingly impossible to use the oven now.

Long shot, I know, but does anyone know what I can do to reset the oven so it works properly again?
