At what age does a lamb become independent of its mother? Does the mother then stop recognising it as its offspring?

They should apparently be weaned at 50-60 days or when lambs are over 40lb in weight and eating creep and drinking water. No idea what would happen in the wild, but at 50-60 days they dont need the milk anymore so are 'independent'
