There appear to be no queries for this crossword this week. I've managed to complete the grid bar three clues which are 4, 5 and 5 letters long, but the clues are 4, 4 and 5. I cannot see where I have gone wrong.
1ac is "intoxicates" which means that 5dn begins with"i", but there are no 4 letter clues ; I have I M ? O.
Carrying on clockwise around the perimeter I have remonstrant, stereotypes and dapperlings. All the other answers fit well in to this grid apart from 5dn, 8dn and 26 dn. Any hints or clues or suggestions are most welcome, or have others got the same problem ?

Ulysses The I clue from intoxicates is IMHO (in my humble opinion)

I have completed the whole puzzle but am unclear which numbered clues you are stuck on?

Are you looking for nos 5, 8 & 26 ?

Thanks k.
I was just about to add second thoughts when the site crashed on me !
I can only think that there are some transposed bars, because 8dn should be ETEN but , in my downloaded grid, would be ETENM, 26 dn is SMUT but in my grid is USMUT. But on the other hand I should have got IMHO which fits correctly for 5dn
I was working from the newspaper not from a download and the bars seem correct.

I agree Eten and Smut !

ulysses ~ I am using the back door to answer your EV question! I've solved all 12 clues with asterisks and for 7a the final answer PRONGS/PRANGS comes as the "average" of SUNLIT and what other word?

Knowing that the average of X and 13 is 10 (say) leads us to X = 7.

For 6d, one element is VENUES

Come back if you need more!
