By virtue of enquiring about such things you are preparing yourself to go out on the road and endanger other people's lives and that is then dealt with under criminal procedures.
IT COULD BE YOU!!
(I am not talking about the lottery here)
If youve already done such a stupid thing and got away with it without causing an accident then take your punishment at the court hearing and learn your lesson.
DONT DRINK AND DRIVE!
DONT DRIVE IF YOU ARE TIRED!

I'm sorry bob, there's an unhappy tendancy here for some people to interpret a question as an invitation to mount a high horse and pronounce judgement.
happyskyper does not know if you are referring to yourself, a friend or even somebody who may have hit you, yet still feels the need to give us the benefit of such obvious wisdom.
Never mind - in answer to your question the magistrates bench book starts with 12 months disqualification and a category B fine for a breath reading of 35-55. As I recall a category B fine equates to roughly two weeks salary

A point for Jake
A clue as to who BOB is refering about might be in the question...
"What penalty would I get for driving just over the legal drink drive limit"
ONE would phrase the question slightly different if ONE was trying to expand ONES knowledge.
I concede on the semantics so I offer appologies.

It is not intentional Norman.. merely circumstantial.
But it is an open forum for thoughts , knowledge and ideas and advice at times... as colourful or contraversial as they may be.
Overall I am glad I recently stumbled across this lively community which came to me in my time of need so if I can give something back all the better.

I found quite a good website that had a load of info on penalties etc... the drink driving info is good. http://www.driving-law.co.uk/offences/drink_dr iving-penalties.asp
Basically if you are convicted of drink driving it is obligatory that you are disqualified from driving unless the Court finds that a special reason exists for not doing so.
