hi all, just finished my law degree, found out yeaterday i got a 2:1 so am rather pleased! iv got a place to do my LPC next year at Nottingham Law School. Thing is, im not sure whether i actually want to be a solicitor or whether i am just motivated by the money or the fact that its the natural progression from a law degree. I mean i really enjoyed land law, trusts law and probate but am not sure wot to do. Im really interested in building and construction and at one time was contemplation being an architect or quantity surveyor. Anyone got any advice on how to incorporate all these? or just any advice on becoming a lawyer in general???

Hey, Nottingham! I remember those days. Is it Nottingham or Nottingham Trent? I know they share the same law school but still...
The best advice I would offer to you is to check out some legal student publications like 'Lawyer2b' (sic).
Nottingham has some close ties with local large law firms and these magazines will go into greater detail on them. Also, the CPS have close ties with Nottingham, who put 100 places aside on the LPC 'for those who don't wish to go into private practice'.
I really wouldn't like to offer any other advice about what to do with your life bar two things:
You really can't do the LPC et al for money. Well, I mean you can, but I know people who did and they just couldn't stick the hours. If you don't really appreciate the law I can't suggest you go for it; but if you must, try a firm specialising in Property or Trusts.
It is a small thing I know and yes, I realise this is online, but please look at your grammar and spelling. In reading your question, I would never have guessed it was from a prospective lawyer. Perhaps your handwriting is word perfect (I'm sure it is), but lapsing into the 'txt' style doesn't do you any favours. Just a thought, and good luck! :-)
Well done on your degree (I got a 2-1 in law from NTU so I know the law school well). Just because you have a law degree you do not have to follow a career in law. I did not bother with my LPC but went of in a completely different direction and am now an audiologist. I love my job and get a lot of satisfaction - although I probably would have earned more if I had followed a legal career

PS The subjects that you liked were the ones that I could not get on with - My favourites Tort, Criminal and Consti
