I have a nesting box on the wall of my tiny garden, I heard a kind of fizzing sound then a bang yesterday evening and by the time I got out into the garden I realised someone had put a firework in the box and killed the baby birds that had been in there. I was so upset, more so when I watched the mother bird return with food for her chicks. I swear to you I could tell she was bewildered. Why ? They could see there were baby birds in there, didnt it bother the person/persons who did it?
Oh, Baby Jane, that's horrible. You must have broken your heart. Some people beggar belief. I posted on A & N about a dog that a friend's dad is fostering which was s*xually abused by its previous owner. So wrong.
I hope one day people like that suffer to the same degree that they've caused suffering. Karma comes :)
Hey Elvis, I don't know what a nesting box is and I'm 28. I'm sure if mI saw one I could hazard a guess that it was for birds but would I expect there to be some in there, I doubt it. I would have thought that maybe a letterbox would have been a far worse act.
Your all such sweet caring people, and what horrible stories some of you know about cruelty to animals and birds. I took your advice Scarlett & Goodsoulette and told our local free paper who are going to put it in next week.
They dont think anything will come of it but at least the ones who did it might think twice in future. Hubby has put the nesting box futher up the wall so that in effect only birds will be able to reach it,and the food house is now on a plinth on the lawn. I feel like a vigilante cos Im watching and worrying. I will let you all know if the filthy scumbags b*****ds are caught.
Hey Goods, imagine a tiny wooden box shaped like a house but instead of a front door and windows there`s a small hole for birds to fly in and out.......well, that`s what a nesting box looks like ;o)
