Would it be possible for the editor to tell us what protocol they adopt to deal with users who post insulting/abusing/rude messages? For example is there a warning e-mail directly to them, is there a three strikes and you're out policy or anything like that?

Last weekend, I posted several of the same answers to some of the Marlboro questions (cos I was so sick of them) and AB Ed blocked my username for 3 days. But I never got an e-mail or anything from AB, despite contacting them through the "contact us" facility.

vittoria - if a user name, question or answer warrants it, the user is banned immediately.

Less offensive, and nonsensical, postings will result in the answer (rather than the user) being banned.

The 'three strikes and you're out' idea sounds good, but it would beveryt difficult to enforcein practice. Hence, some people manage to post lots of nonsense and get away with it!

Writing an explanatory email every time (i.e to DOB when multiple posts are deleted) would be so time-consuming as to make management of the site impossible.

AB Editor - why would you need to write out an explantory e-mail? You're not telling me that all those "AnswerBank - You have an answer!" e-mails are personally written and sent each time?!

No. Seriously - this is an interesting idea but at present the system of moderating and, if necessary deleting, posts does not include an automated mail-out facility.
