Waking Up
6 Answers
Hi, can anyone give me any tips for waking up and getting out of bed in the mornings? Because I'm quite a heavy sleeper, so I often sleep through my alarm. Thanks =)

It may seem strange, but being deaf meant that I needed to find a way of being woken up. You can buy alarm clocks that vibrate inside your pillow (just like the size of a normal travel clock). Go to www.rnid.org.uk and browse in their shop for alert devices which includes alarm clocks. Sorry if this sounds a really strange solution, but you never know it may work!!
Do you have a telephone which is near enough and loud enough to wake you up? If so, you can set a wake-up call for yourself by dialling *55*TIME# where TIME is the four digits of the time you want to be woken up. It costs 17p each time. I often sleep through my alarm clock, and I find the phone method is useful if I need to get up early to go to a specific thing.
I used to use the telephone alarm that bernardo mentions when I lived in Britain. It was great. Another idea is to have 2 or 3 alarm clocks positioned away from your bed, so that you have to get up and walk across the room to switch them off. This worked for me. Before I did this I used to reach out of bed and switch the alarm clock off and then go back to sleep. I could never even remember switching it off - so it really worked when I bought a couple of cheap old fashioned alarm clocks with bells (instead of the beep beep ones). I think I got them from Woolworths.
