After school provisions for secondary school children
2 Answers
I was just wondering what provisions are available for secondary school aged children of parents who don't want their children to become 'latch key kids'. My eldest daughter is almost ten and I am thinking about returning to work. I had been putting it on hold for a few years until my youngest two kids were able to settle at nursery/school but I am conscious of the fact that my eldest will be attending secondary school in a few years time and just wondered whether or not I will have to consider part time employment or whether there are any provisions for kids this age. I realise that she will be far too old for a childminder and I will most certainly not be allowing her to venture home herself. Can anyone help please?

However secondary schools are open later with many activities: another parent makes her daughter go to the school library & do her homework before returing home at 5pm. Encourage your daughter to participate in as many after school activities as possible.
