Why do we need to turn off the taps when possible? Surely after it goes down the plug hole it goes to the water works place?

but it can be used again, cant it? then it wouldnt be wasting water as such.
You need to turn the taps off because otherwise it drowns the rats down there.
it goes into the same sewer as toilet waste, and usually doesn't re-enter the drinking system. Don't forget, it also costs money to get water to drinking standard, and to pump it to your taps.
dont for get all the leaks in the pipes - most of our water is wasted back into the ground

It costs a lot of money to get water to your tap.

Water doesn't fall out of the sky you know! :)

Its all about the unnecessary cost of recirculating the water back through purification, filtration etc to bring it up to drinking standard again!!
