Friend in a pickle
6 Answers
A colleague had a girlfriend for 5 years. He was going to sell his house so they could buy somewhere else together. She paid for a few things to be done in his house amounting to about 2,000. 18 months - 2 years ago the relationship ended due to her seeing someone else and treating my friend terribly i.e. not speaking or giving any explanation for strange behaviour and change of feelings, actually he was told to 'mind his own business' when asking what was wrong until he found out what was going on. They never lived together or had any verbal or written agreement over the money, as you would think in a good relationship, this was done on trust as they were planning to spend their future together at the time.

Am not saying her behaviour towards him was great during theit time together and it seems odd to have taken so long for her to contact him but I don't think thats the point. If its quite easily quantifiable about what works she paid to have done and how much they cost, I think he should pay her back.

I lived with my ex for 18 months, decorated, spent more money on the house than she did , paid 1,000.00 for a fitted bedroom 4 weeks before I left and I walked away with my belongings in bin liners.
From a legal perspective, the property was rented and in her name, I hadn't got receipts for the things I'd bought because at the time you don't think you are going to fall out so what could I do? Like it and lump it, I walked out with some dignity.
This woman treated him badly then re-appears 18 months later asking for money, I wouldn't be able to stop laughing.
