Casino Royale written in 1953....not a bad film as well
Ian Fleming wrote 14 Bond books, the first being Casino Royale in 1953, followed by Live And Let Die, Moonraker, Diamonds Are For Ever, From Russia With Love, Doctor No, Goldfinger, For Your Eyes Only, Thunderball, The Spy Who Loved Me, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, You Only Live Twice, OO7 In New York, The Man With The Golden Gun and Octopussy (aka Octopussy And The Living Daylights). After Fleming's death in 1964 others have taken over: Kingsley Amis (under the pseudonym Robert Markham), John Gardner and Raymond Benson have all written new 'Bond' novels.
Casino Royale is a great book, and the film is pretty okay, but they are completely drifferent stories. Rather similar to most of the Bond films.
