I am unable to get a broadband connection on my PC (using Windows XP) via a router, although my laptop connects so the router is ok.
The IP address begins 169: Windows can't find the proper 192 ip address when I do a 'Repair' so what can I do to fix this please?! Thanks

Before you do anything else switch everything off at the plug for at least a minute - the modem, router, pcs - all off.

Switch back on in this EXACT order:

1. Modem - wait at least 30 seconds for the lights to settle.

2. Router (assuming it is separate) - wait as above.

3. PCs.

Hopefully everything should connect. If not, we'll look at your router admin settings.
you need to press the reset button on the back of the router, it will still be configured to the laptops assigned i.p
If you reset you will lose all your security settings. Hopefully that won't be necessary.
