This has never happened before ever
Just watching corrie and craig has been told by eileen that he cant smoke in office, also steve in pub is talking about throwing away ashtrays.
This is the first time in 40 years that corrie has acknowledged the real world. I think this is government intervention at its worst

yeah we're all boring, those of us who dont want to stick a rolled up piece of paper, filled with crushed up leaves and poisons gallore, well boring. fancy us not wanting to set a good example to our kids, how boring that we want to live to a ripe old age, how boring we dont want to pollute everyone around us. thats me missboring and i am quite happy.
I think that because the smoking ban is national legislation, all the soaps have to reflect this. Not to do so would make their sets appear like some kind of other eorld where people smoke in public buildings - it would look really odd.
I think it has nothing to do with enforcing legislation, and everything to do with a necessary sense of realism.
