I have often heard the above used (often sports commentators). Is it not tautological? Is it technically OK to use?

that is odd, Quizmonster. On my screen, my last post appeared as soon as I posted it, though as I recall it took a couple of gos to make it do so. TCL's 12.59 post is still invisible to me. In fact the site was very wobbly last night - it took several attempts to post anything and I gave up a couple of times - and around midnight the whole shebang was inaccessible for 15 minutes or more. It does make trying to hold a lucid and informative conversation rather a joke. I hope it's been sorted out and Lorcan is starting to get some sort of answer to the original question.
