cable knitting. How on earth do you do it?...
2 Answers
I have been knitting for years (it's a young woman's game aswell, I'm only 30) anyway I am extremely proficient at it, able to complete highly complex intarsia...all sorts, but cannot for the life of me work out how to cable (for non-knitters that's the twisted rope effect you get on jumpers) I have checked out ALL books on it in my library. I understand that you seperate your desired stitches with a double ended needle and that you knit them in different order but I just get lost ....Help me?

To knit cable you usualy do something like slip the next four stitches onto a cable needle, then the instructions will tell you whether to put the cable needle to the front or back or your work. You then work the next four (for example!) stitches on your ordinary needles, then the needles from the cable needle. Looks lovely if you get it right. Try knitting a square with cable in just to see if you've got it!
