this only happens in the winter or when it's damp.
Someone said it sounded like the fan belt. Any ideas anyone? Also how much would it cost to replace?

Could be an alternator belt slipping. If so very simple to fix.

Reasonable local mechanic �10 at max.

Kwik Fit = New belt, brake pads, and whatever they think they can get away with. Cost= astronomical.
