Does anyone else thinking that taking a trip around the world at 25, with no career firmly in place, a little hedonistic? What about a career in travelling?..........laziness, hedonistic or a bloody good idea that most people wish they could do.

If you want to do it and you can afford it, go for it. Opportunities you encounter along the way may well shape the decisions you make re work and life in general anyway. You could have a go at travel writing while you're at it.
I am hoping to be doing it in a couple of years and I'm past 25 already. Go for it if you can! When/if you settle, you'll be in the same sort of place and routine for tens of years. Go do something cool and interesting while you've no ties and no responsibilities!
About a career in travelling: when I was getting married I used to read a bridal magazine which had a travel editor (a man); this man was always shooting off to luxury hotels in the Caribbean and all the honeymoon spots; he left when he got married. Initially I thought a career in travelling was fantastic but then I realised that it could take its toll on someone's personal life. That said, go for it, but keep an open mind as one day you may decide it is no longer for you.
P.S. About a round the world trip before your career is in place: sounds like the ideal time to me. If you wait till your career is underway it might actually be more difficult to do it!
