I have a vauxhall vectra 1999 and just had it put through an mot and it failed on abs warning light staying on but yet brakes are perfect any suggestions how i can solve this problem before the retest?
The only easy(ish) thing you could do is pop each wheel of the car off and check the wiring to the sensor is ok. The wires sometimes get caught on debris or dirty at the connector look for wires coming down to the wheel hub area.
If nothing obvious its a garage job.
nickyandlee, dont talk such nonsense,if the abs light is on,then there is a problem with the abs, vauxhall cant just reset it for the sake of resetting it,the problem needs sorting and the light will go out on its own,
crewie,do as furrycheeky says and check for wires, etc, give the brakes a good clean up,then go from there,i doubt it would cost a fortune to get fixed.
Because the memory in the car can store old faults it's best to have a garage erase the error in the memory and then run it round the block. If the ABS light comes back on the faults shown are the ones that are present.
On some vehicles something minor like a brake pedal switch or brake light bulb out can make the ABS light come on, but not normally on Vectra's.
