moles

has anyone any suggestions for getting rid of moles (environmentally or vegetable friendly means!). weve got one who loves my husband's veg patch!

I've read a couple of website about this and here are some suggestions. I've no idea if any of them work but there's no harm in trying them out.

1 - Pour urine / or urinate on the mole hills (apparently they don't like the smell)
2 - Stick childrens windmills in the holes (apparently they don't like the vibrations)
3 - Cover a pine cone in creosote and push it stem down into the run, stem down. (apparently they don't like the smell and can't push them back out)

If in doubt :
4 - Ask a farmer to recommend a mole man
or

Although none of these are instant solutions, it may take weeks if not months or years to finally get rid of moles.

Put a moth ball down the hole but the mole will only move to different place. The only way to get rid of it forever is to get the mole man.

Well said coco pops!!! as an ex professional Mole Trapper (the only one in Devon) I have seen all the methods you can think of and all the above and loads more!!!

It needs to be killed, either trap it yourself or get someone to trap it for you. The humane traps are a complete waste of money and in my opinion totally inhumane!!!!

you can by mole smokes, basicly a smoke bomb that fills there tunnels. we had a large garden with large number of tunnels about 5 years ago and since using them havnt seen a mole since.

I think you will find that smokes are illegal now. Get a whiff and you will know why - deadly. Try a musical greetings card unit over the scraped open hole and cover to keep dry - drives them mad!
