mammar and ray thanx for your kind words i have shown my sons all the replies on here and they also say thanks to all of you who have replied he sure was a great bloke.within my role in the armed forces as you can imagine i was away from home a hell of a lot and he and his wife always looked after my wife and kids he will be sorely missed by us and a lot of other people.thanks again all of you.xx
stokeace. My condolences. In terms of bereavment what has helped me is to think that the pain and loss is in direct proportion to the value I had for them and the pleasure they gave me. The more is hurts equals the more they enriched my life and I am so grateful for being lucky enough to have loved them.
Hey stoke, sorry I didnt reply sooner mucker. First of all, my sincere condolences, diagnosed 3 weeks ago and gone now? mercifully quick matey, trust me.
I know how you feel stoke pal, the bravest man I ever had the pleasure to know was a Capt in the RAMC who died from cancer of the liver, I served with him when I re-enlisted after GW1, it was he who suggested I apply for a commission, he acted as my mentor and taught me so much, we were together in Bosnia + Kosovo, he passed away when I was in Afghanistan, like you I was gutted, however the Army got me home for his funeral. I still miss him to this day, he passed away in 2002, and I still drink a glass of Port in memory of him each night

Hi stokeace
The kind words on here is indeed a tribute to your friend. Not many people are so honoured in their lifetime to have a friend like him, and also the fact that you and your family must have also been good friends to him also.
You and your family must have many memories to treasure. Ones that you will never forget.
Remember, friendship works two ways.
Think he may be up there smiling down on you just now.
