NOT ONE. Now little Beryl might chomp through 20-30 paracetamol and die if not given anything to counteract its effects.
Beryl I loved it, 1500lbs of hash in 15 minutes, sounds like a challenge to me.

so Chompu, is it right that our legal system was based on the first scientific assessment of 20 legal and illegal stimulants used in contemporary Britain. Should they not take the table in the article above into account.

"There is a good chance of ending up insane though. There are countless cases of Dope induced mental problems."
There are also coutless cases where people who smoke pot regularly and do not end up insane. When you say "there is a good chance" you imply a knowledge of the percentage of all pot smokers that go insane. Do you really know this statistic. I would think not.

I don't quite understand your reference to the top of the pops type list in the BBC report. The original classification of drugs were made on the recommendation of the Brain committee in the 1960s. This list was recently drawn up by a committee of MPs and highly misleading it reads without knowing the criteria that was used. The main problem I see is it does not take into account how different drugs have a varying effect on different individuals. Not everyone who drinks alcohol becomes alcoholic. not everone who smokes dies of lung cancer, not everyone who takes ecstacy for the first time dies, but some do.The human body is a complex system of chemicals, to introduce a potentially dangerous substance into it without knowing how you will react to it in my mind is foolish. Another point about this list is that with many drug deaths the person is found to have taken a cocktail of drugs. How do you decide has been the most harmful to that individual.
I know that you have young children. What are you going to do when they are older and begin to experiment. Are you going to be the liberal mum and say, it never did me any harm. Problem is you won't know how anything will act on them individually.
Also I see on another thread you say you no longer smoke cannabis because of asthma. Were you totally honest with your GP. I have seen scores of children mis-diagnosed with asthma when in fact they have been suffering from hyperventilation commonly referred to as panic attacks. A common symptom occuring with paranoia which is sometimes caused by long term cannabis use.
By the way if the ill informed remark was aimed at me I'm not going to repeat the credentials I have to speak on this subject. I've stated them before. I think they woul outweigh anything you could claim.

One would hope that the parents can see that something is amiss eh?
It is relevant.
It is as relevant as the closing down of Psych. Wards. Hence the figures are distorted.
How many smoke dope in this country?
How many end up in Psych units?
I don't know. and funnily enough.....
I don't care.
This government grows cannabis for medical use. I need that medical use. That is my only concern.
The government drag it up because the armchair voters are probably bored with War mongering. It gives them something else to chew on doesn't it. And then it'll fizzle out.
Because something vastly more dramatic will take over.
Just my thoughts......

Yes and I have always been totally honest with my GP. If asked for bloods etc I have always said I smoke pot. My asthma came on this weekend, to a frightening degree. My pot smoking is light, its been 1to 3 joints a week for maybe 14 years now. However apart from being pregnant or when breast feeding my smoking straight fags has been heavy. My doctor has never gone at me about my light cannabis use but has told me off for smoking 30 cigarettes a day.
In all honesty after the week I have had I really hope neither of boys ever take up smoking but I would much rather they smoked pot than got drunk. I truly believe it is safer. That's on a short term basis and I think on the long term use cannabis is probably safer too. I don't want them to be addicted to anything but I do not want my children to grow up scared to tell me what they are doing because I have spent my whole life telling them no. I need them to be able to go out and feel they can call me whatever situation they are in.
I came out the other side of my drug taking youth unscathed, as have the majority of my friends. Not all but most. I can bear witness to the devestation of alcohol and how each generation has effected the next.
